DeKalb to Participate in the Great American Cleanup
April 24, 2010 (9:00 am - 1:00 pm)
DeKalb County will celebrate Earth Day and National County Government Month by participating in Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup on Saturday, April 24, 2010, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Communities are encouraged to help beautify DeKalb County by cleaning up dirty streets, waterways, and illegal dump sites; as well as by greening up parks, schoolyards, MARTA bus stops, and other public spaces.
Keep DeKalb Beautiful (KDB) is asking groups to host community cleanups and beautification projects in neighborhoods around the county. If weather is inclement, participants may reschedule their events at their discretion.
KDB will provide supplies such as garbage bags, brown reuse bags, plastic gloves, pick-up sticks, safety vests, and t-shirts, as supplies are available. Pick-up sticks and safety vests will need to be returned.
Last year, KDB successfully removed 28,000 pounds of litter from 111 miles of DeKalb County roadways with the help of more than 60 community groups and looks forward to working with the community on this annual day of spring cleaning.
